Planning Your Trip to Red Rocks

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an essential stop in the area, whether you’re here to take in the stunning views or catch a performance. This unique open-air venue features two towering 300-foot monoliths, Ship Rock and Creation Rock. Admission and parking are free to visit the park, amphitheater, Visitor Center and Trading Post. On non-event days, the park is open one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset and is a great place for a hike or workout. On event days, it’s is open one hour before sunrise until approximately 2 p.m.

Dress in layers! The weather can shift quickly, especially in the foothills. Check the forecast before heading out and be prepared for rain—umbrellas aren’t allowed, so bring a raincoat or poncho. You’ll also be doing a lot of walking and stair climbing, so comfortable shoes are a must.

Parking at Red Rocks is free and generally well organized. Arriving early doesn’t guarantee a closer spot, but it can help you beat the crowds. Rideshares like Uber can be unreliable in Evergreen—if you request one, allow at least 30 minutes for it to arrive. After the show, wait times can be long. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before showtime to allow for the walk from parking to the amphitheater. Lines tend to get long right before doors open, but move quickly once they do.

Yes! Tailgating is a beloved part of the Red Rocks experience. Just keep in mind that charcoal grills and glass bottles are not allowed—but propane stoves are permitted.

You can bring a single-pocket bag or a clear bag no larger than 13” x 15” x 8”. Bags with multiple pockets are not allowed.
